It was a good day

Today (meaning Saturday) was a good day. I guess, it was really yesterday, considering it's after midnight and now December 2.

I slept in a little, and by that, I mean 10-ish.

I met a friend who is moving back to Winnipeg soon for brunch. Although it was really cold outside and every restaurant we considered going into was packed to the door, we finally found a place 7 blocks from my place at Moxie's. The conversation was good and I think we both came away feeling somewhat understood by another human being. On the way back, we stopped in a few stores along the way. We enjoyed reading cards at the Shoppers. Back at my place, she helped me get my car ready for the drive to Red Deer (fill my tires, check my oil, add winter windshield washer fluid). Then I drove her back to her place and headed out for my day trip to Red Deer.

The drive to Red Deer was good. I enjoyed listening to music (I uploaded many of my cd's to my mp3 player). The roads were good. My feet were warm and so was the rest of my body which means my car heats well. It was relaxing and really good to get out of the city and see open space. In Red Deer, I went to a birthday party. I enjoyed myself. I had several good conversations, ate good food and played some pool. The drive back was also nice. It was a pretty dark night so I could see the stars, reminding me of my many late night trips back and forth between Blumenort and Winnipeg.

Now I'm at home, drinking the remainder of my Canada Dry Cranberry ginger ale. It's pretty good ... you should try it if you have never tried it. I'm not sure whether I like it better than Raspberry ginger ale, but it's a pretty close second.

And another surprise... I checked my pay stub and it turns out both my CPP and EI have reached the 'annual limit', so my paycheques will be higher for the remaining 2 of the year. As it's an unexpected amount, I can use this to cover most of the costs of going to MB instead of dipping into some other part of the budget.

In reviewing this blog entry, I realized I rambled a lot. Hope that's ok. :D It is nice, though, to feel pretty content and relaxed. It's been a while.
