Today, I had an appointment with a CranioSacral Therapist (CST). This is supposed to be a very light touch therapy that somehow works with cerebral spinal fluid to help people who have neck and back pain or stress. I got an appointment because this lady comes once a month to where I work and I was offered an appointment.
What I got was not CST. She didn't tell me that when she was doing it. She said she'd be very 'hands-off'. This put me on guard somewhat because it made me think it was Reiki (is that the right word?). That's something I said I'd never to because it just seems a little weird to me. The lady wouldn't answer my questions during the appointment and said she'd explain later. She never did, even when I asked. All she said was she didn't do CST with me yet. She wanted to get my 'energy'. She asked me if I felt anything. I didn't really. Nothing out of the ordinary. I lay on this bench. That was kind of relaxing. She was waving her hands over me. Made me slightly uncomfortable. Very weird. She asked if I ever noticed her touch me anywhere. I was sure she had touched my right foot - and not just brushed by it - as well as my left elbow - both places that have given me some problems recently. She totally denied touching me anywhere. I don't get that at all. The whole time during the appointment, I was praying that this wasn't something weird or evil. I say 'evil' because I've heard from some massage therapists who have learned about the therapies where people wave their hands over people, that they think it's quite New Age related.
One of the guests where I work stated that this was the perfect kind of therapy for celibate people. We couldn't figure out what she meant. Now, I wonder if she had this same 'energy' testing as I did. I could then see why she thought it was appropriate for people choosing to be celibate.
I would still like to see what this CST is, though. From the research I did online, it appears to be related to the physiology of the body, but isn't strongly supported by evidence.
