This year, my birthday stretched over 3 days.
On Friday, my co-workers organized a surprise birthday party for me at Buzzards. I did notice a bunch of odd things happening throughout the day. But, right at the moment of the surprise, I was surprised. They had to work pretty hard to keep it a surprise. My scooter giving out caused them to have to totally rearrange the plans because they planned to go to a place further away. There were probably 20 people there, or so. I tried an apricot ale ... quite tasty, quite different. A bit cider like.
On Saturday, one of my friends (also a co-worker) took me out for lunch to our favourite, 'Vietnam'. Good food, good prices. I did my laundry in the later afternoon, and in the evening, went for the regular weekly coffee outing. Treated myself to a slice of lemon poppyseed loaf and a Cinnamon Dolce Latte (can you guess where I went?).
On Sunday, I did the usual - went to church, came home, relaxed a bit. Then, went to meet 'the group' for a Bible study and hanging out. I made a comment the day before to one of the people about really enjoying the fact my birthday is at the end of May as it just starts to become nice outside - a perfect excuse for icecream Cake. I was talking about my childhood as well as the awesome homemade ones one of my friends makes. I suggested we go to Dairy Queen to get ice cream as an activity. But, he bought an Icecream Cake at Dairy Queen. Even better! :D One with Mini Reece's Peanut Butter cups on it. I wonder if he remembered me saying once that the taste I missed when I was in Australia was the combination of peanut butter and chocolate. If not, he made a good choice anyway.
