Today, we had the Celebration of Lifelong Learning. It was probably the best one we've had since I started working at the Seed. I played on the grand piano! Yay! I love playing on grand pianos! In between practicing and the start of the Celebration, I took some time to take pictures of the beautiful architecture and design of the church. Although I captured some of the details, I couldn't post all my pictures and I could not take pictures of all the details. Below are some of the pictures with a few comments.
The Front of the Church. Check out the pipe organ behind the huge pulpit. The organ is wider than the pulpit and has a sign on it saying, "Do not touch or the police will be called". The grand piano is off to the left.
The beautiful stained glass ....
The pipes ....
The detailed carvings ....
... a closer view of the carving (The Last Supper). The carving is part of the huge pulpit. The Bible is on a table in front of the pulpit. The carving is set in, like a cave in the pulpit, with the characters in the picture jutting out from the back of the 'cave'. Up close, the detail is amazing. Scroll up to see the 'front of the church' picture to get an idea of the size. I also noticed below the pipes is a nativity scene in stained glass. However, the lights were not on today so it was not noticeable and did not show up in the pictures.
The flower below is carved on the end of each bench. The benches make an interesting story ... the benches slope so that while you're sitting on them, if you're on the side, you lean towards the centre unless you are holding on or bracing yourself with you feet.
The church is complete with 'thrones' on the stage.
