The Governor General came to the Seed the other day. As I am now in charge of Health & Wellness, I was to run a group in the clinic. I had materials for a money management group, so that's what I did. She came to my group for a bit, asked questions of everyone, and shook each person's hand. She told me that I am a person with great passion. It was exciting. We had a week to prepare and decide what we'd do. She was meeting with dignitaries from Calgary to discuss the issue of homelessness. She had a crew of security with her. She came and left in a cavalry of cars, hers being the middle car. Before she entered any halls, her security people had to check the hall out to make sure it was safe. Prior to her tour, the security guards met me and others who were going to meet with her briefly. After she and all the dignitaries left, the staff chowed down on the leftover goodies. Mm mm. :D All in all, a very interesting day. I have no pictures from the day other than one I found online (see below) ... although I was on CitiTV later that day.

Here are a few links to articles about her visit:
Calgary Herald and
Macleans~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~On other notes, I am really enjoying watching tennis on TSN lately. It reminds me of when I lived in Australia. I spent hours watching tennis, partly because the Australian Open was on in Melbourne while I was there. Looking back, I wish I had bought tickets to go watch a game. It seems, from watching tv, that there is a bit of a culture of watching the sport. This is one sport I'd love to figure out a way how I could play. I guess there's always the 'Wii' option. Just need to buy one.
At the moment, I am baking potatoes in the oven for my potluck Bible study. We meet every week and have supper together. Whoever is hosting makes the main course and each of us bring something to pitch in for the meal. Today, it's my turn to bake potatoes. I am sipping green tea while I am waiting for the potatoes to bake.
