So, this is a picture of a scooter like the one I purchased today. The only difference I can see is that I didn't get the headlight system. That would have ultimately cost me more than $300. They suggested that I go and buy whatever kind of headlight I would like and I could pay them to install it if I want one. Of course, I'd have to pay for that, but it would be less than $300.
I bought a red Ranger Solo III (but apparently, it's the Ltd. version because the only difference between the III and the Ltd version is the aluminum wheels, which, in my opinion, look awesome). At least, I think the scooter has this kind of wheels. If not, I'll let you know. I don't have the scooter at home yet because it is getting slightly modified.
Take a look at the link to see more details and watch a video of how to disassemble this machine. Much easier than the old scooter.
It was time to replace my old scooter. I was hearing more and more sounds coming from it. Now, although I recently replaced the bearings, I am hearing a gritting sound, almost like glass rubbing together. I can also feel the vibration on the handle bars of the rubbing in the wheel. I may still try to get that fixed. I plan to leave the old scooter at work so I have something to use when I drive my car.
Other than that, I was 'First Aid girl' today. None of the other staff wanted to get involved with First Aid. Why get trained if you won't give First Aid if necessary?! Mind you, some probably weren't trained. I think they see me as an expert in this area. One of the youth who has been at the demo crew (a retreat for youth that also has sessions about addictions, prostitution, God and the homeless, etc. and outreach opportunities) got hurt. She fell and ended up breaking a bone in her thumb and possibly her knee. Her knee was too swollen for the x-ray to tell anything. Anyway, I didn't do much. The demo crew staff just wanted my 'expert' opinion as to what to do with the girl. I'm guessing, they also wanted a girl to be able to comfort this girl. Due to the swelling and pain and the fact that she could not move her knee, I suggested they take her to the doctor. I also had to fill out an incident report. I made sure she was ok in the mean time. Sat with her, etc. She was a bit woozy and shaky .... in shock. Made sure she also had ice for the swelling in the mean time. When she came back from 8th and 8th (walk in emergency clinic), she came up to me. I guess she wanted to thank me and I was a familiar staff person she could talk to. I ended up re-wrapping her partial cast with a tensor as it was coming off. I've definitely done it for myself enough times. This girl was also one of the girls who came with me on the outreach activity earlier in the week. I stayed a bit longer at work today because it seemed this girl wanted to talk a bit longer.
My interactions with these youth over the past two weeks has really made me interested in helping out with youth at church. I hesitate somewhat because I know they have lots of help and I have yet to make any sort of connection with any youth at church.
