There are treasures in mess

Today, as I am home on a sick day (I won't go into the details of that), I'm watching a show (Gill) on TV. The expert on the show is talking about how it's good for naturally messy people to keep their place messy. A cluttered mess means a creative mind, apparently. And each person has a method to their messiness. Most messy people have stacks of things. Most messy people know where to find what they're looking for. Apparently, successful people tend to be really messy. The guy who discovered Penicillin discovered it due to messiness in the lab. Ok, that's carelessness and generally not a good thing in a science lab. If your samples become contaminated, then you need to clean up your lab techniques. Nevertheless, Penicillin WAS discovered because the guy was messy. The theory is that it's good to have a relaxed approach to keeping tidy. In a world where people strive to be Martha Stewart, it's refreshing to see the flip argument that it's ok to have some mess. I like what this guy has to say!

And now, here's a quote and the title of his book, "Say Yes to Messiness" - David Freedman.
