Turkish Tea Table: A short table for short people

Turkish Tea Table: A short table for short people

Today, Jorge, one of my co-workers, strides towards my office with this huge mischievous grin, carrying this thing. I couldn't tell what it was. He walks in and sets it down and says, "A short table for short people, do you like it?" He then says, "Happy Birthday". He told me it is an antique Turkish Tea Table and he thought it would be perfect for me. We had a good laugh. Then he wished me a good weekend and left my office. I am still laughing about this. I told a few of my other co-workers about the table conversation and they couldn't believe that Jorge would actually say what he did. But we have a good-natured relationship and I know it's all in fun. Afterall, I started the whole 'short people' comments by posting a sign on the microwave: "Please leave the microwave on the counter. Short people work here" after I continually found the microwave placed on the high microwave shelf every morning even though co-workers would kindly place it on the counter for me each day so I could use it. You'd think people would get the point. The sign has worked. It has never been placed on the high microwave shelf since then, but I still get comments from co-workers about how they love the sign. Only I could get away with a sign like that. :)

Description of the Turkish Tea Table: The top part is a huge serving tray, approximately 2 feet in diameter. This tray can be removed and placed on the pedestal below. The table stands about 1 foot high. As you can see in the picture above, it is well below the height of the chairs and the chairs are of normal height.
