Is it aliens?

I wanted to use my toaster the other day. However, I soon became distracted. I pressed the lever down, and there was a glow.

Now, I'm not talking just ANY glow. It was like the room lit up. I let go of the lever, and the glow went away.

I pressed the lever a few more times, and the glow kept on returning. I looked inside the toaster, and I didn't see ANY glow inside. No red wires. Nothing. But the room seemed to light up.

It seemed like the glow was coming from above. Was this possible? I pressed the lever again. This time, I looked up when the glow appeared.

AND THERE WAS LIGHT!
